Andy Hedges
ACMA, GAICD

I qualified as an accountant in 19… oh too many years ago. I don’t regret my decision to become an accountant. It gave me the foundation for the incredible career that followed.

I have been blessed to hold Senior Leadership positions in the Australia, Canada and the UK. I have also had the honour to lead some incredible teams and together we delivered some fantastic business results. I have had experience across all the major functions in a business while working in Retail Property and FMCG industry sectors.

Reflecting on my Executive career I realised the one thing I loved the most was developing people to be the best version of themselves and this has led me to my new career as an Executive Coach.

I also learned about the things that give me energy and those that sap me. Here are a few –

Energy Givers
My family.
Learning new things; being curious.

Healthy debate (not arguing).

I have lived and breathed Human Resources for the majority of my career life. This has been intertwined with the pure joy and blessing of raising 5 amazing children.  My family feeds my soul.
 
My HR career has spanned both Canada and Australia, primarily in the FMCG and not-for-profit space. Leading HR teams of up to 25 in number, my approach is to act with integrity, sensitivity, authenticity and fun. I believe that in order for HR to be a true functional business partner, they must work with Executive and Management on understanding the business strategy and applying HR practices as enablers to success.
 
I truly enjoy networking and engaging with people who are interested in being the best they can be.  I am someone who Adam Grant identifies as a giver, “with a desire to make better the lives of the people I’m connected to”.
