Ethical Executive Leadership
Many decisions made in a business are characterised as ‘operational decisions’ or ‘financial decisions’ or some other label. Despite the best of intentions, over time there can be ‘Ethical Fading’ where decisions made erode from the original ethical intent and often are in conflict with the stated values of the organisation.
We believe by firstly creating an awareness of how this happens, secondly developing a systematic ‘intentional mechanism’ to test relevant decisions against stated business values, thirdly using an agreed ethical framework and finally in the context of the business’ ‘social licence to operate,’ a business can more consistently hold itself accountable against expected ethical standards. This can be achieved through a series of semi structured interviews, tools and workshops.
“Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do.” Potter Stewart.

The approach:
Step one: Establish the current ethical baseline through a survey, a series of semi structured interviews and a workshop.
Step two: Develop your ‘moral imagination’. This workshop is designed to stretch individual and team thinking relative to your business’ moral and ethical dilemmas. We look through the lens of each of the key stakeholders to develop a framework for your business.
Step three: Embed the ethical framework in actions, decision making and business processes. Create a feedback loop to hold yourself collectively and individually accountable to your agreed standards.
Each of these programs is individually tailored to meet the needs of your business and your Executive Team.
